Thorn SHY038 Bronze Diver

The Thorn SHY038 Bronze Diver uses a Japan NH35 automatic movement in a 40mm CuSn8 bronze case. Its listing specifies a 50.4mm lug-to-lug length, 14.2mm thickness including the domed sapphire crystal, a unidirectional bezel and stated 200m water resistance.

Octopus Kraken OCT-0021 Bronze Pilot Watch

The Octopus Kraken OCT-0021 uses a PT5000 automatic movement in a 40mm CuSn8 bronze case with a 48.5mm lug-to-lug length, 12mm thickness including the sapphire crystal and stated 100m water resistance.

Bronze diver or bronze pilot watch?

Choose by the complete watch rather than the case material alone. The Thorn model is a dive-watch design with a rotating bezel and higher stated water resistance, while the Octopus model uses pilot-watch styling, a leather strap and a slimmer 12mm listed thickness.

What to compare before buying

Compare movement, case diameter, lug-to-lug length, thickness, crystal, strap or bracelet and water resistance. Bronze-case watches can also differ in case-back material: the current Thorn listing uses a 316L stainless-steel case back, while the Octopus listing specifies a see-through case back.
