The Watchdives WD7922 is an affordable Tudor Black Bay 54-style alternative if you want a compact vintage diver with quartz convenience. Available configurations are listed at $119 with a 3-link bracelet or $129 with a 5-link bracelet, before shipping, tax, duties or optional accessories. Its VH31 movement is battery-powered quartz; the Black Bay 54 uses Tudor's self-winding MT5400.
Choose the WD7922 for the proportions, styling and lower initial spend. Choose the Tudor if its mechanical movement, supplied T-fit clasp and brand ownership experience are the reason you are shopping. This is a comparison of two separately branded watches, not a claim of identical construction, finishing or performance.

Quartz convenience or a mechanical movement?
The WD7922's battery-powered VH31 moves its seconds hand four times per second. It suits someone who wants to pick up a watch without winding it or managing a mechanical power reserve. Its sweeping seconds hand does not make it an automatic watch.
Tudor's MT5400 offers mechanical operation and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. If a manufacture mechanical movement and chronometer certification are central to your choice, the WD7922 does not supply those features.
Both are 37mm, but fit needs a closer look
The WD7922 lists a 45.5mm lug-to-lug span and 11.4mm thickness including the crystal. Tudor publishes 11.2mm thickness for this reference. Do not infer identical wrist fit or a meaningful comfort advantage from those two thickness numbers alone: measurement conventions, case shape and the way the bracelet bends also matter.
The WD7922 is the smaller BB54-style option in our broader BB58-style and compact vintage-diver collection. A BB54 comparison should not substitute the dimensions of a different Black Bay 58 reference.
Check what comes on the bracelet
The selected WD7922 comes with the New Applied Logo five-hole milled clasp. An on-the-fly adjustment upgrade is sold separately. Before buying one, confirm the exact bracelet/end-link option and fitment requirements for your watch. Tudor includes its T-fit clasp on this steel-bracelet reference. Compare the complete configuration you intend to buy, rather than assuming an optional accessory is standard.
Which should you choose?
- Consider the WD7922 if you want compact vintage-diver styling, quartz convenience and a lower initial spend. The selected configuration was listed at US$119 when checked; confirm its current price, availability and checkout total.
- Keep the Black Bay 54 on your shortlist if your goal is to own the Tudor itself, with the MT5400, supplied T-fit bracelet and Tudor guarantee. A similar overall style does not replace those reasons for buying it.
Independent Hands-On Evidence: What Was Actually Tested?
Michael Penate's November 25, 2025 review at Two Broke Watch Snobs covers his own WD7922, including compact fit, finishing and a crown-threading concern. The review's older price and clasp configuration are not today's offer, and one sample is not proof of a model-wide failure rate.

Questions About a Budget Black Bay 54 Alternative
Is the WD7922 a mechanical Black Bay 54 substitute?
No. It is a separately branded Watchdives watch with a VH31 sweep-seconds quartz movement. It is an option for someone seeking compact vintage-diver styling and battery-powered convenience, rather than Tudor's mechanical movement.
Can I buy this configuration below $200?
The two available black-bezel, white-marker configurations above were listed at $119 and $129 on October 23, 2026. Both watch prices are below $200; shipping, taxes, duties and optional parts may change the final total.
Does the bracelet price include an OTF clasp?
No. Both linked configurations include the New Applied Logo 5-hole milled clasp. An OTF clasp is separate and its fitment must be checked for the exact bracelet connection.
