Movement and chronograph layout

The Miyota 6S21 is a quartz chronograph movement. The ML23 listing specifies that it does not use a 24-hour subdial and that chronograph-hand alignment can be adjusted by the user. It is battery-powered rather than automatic, so it does not require winding.

The ML23's Miyota 6S21 has a running-seconds subdial at 3 o'clock and a chronograph-minute counter at 9 o'clock. The large central hand records chronograph seconds, rather than normal running seconds. This means you can check that the watch is running without starting the stopwatch, despite its two-register layout.

What if the ML23 chronograph hand does not reset to zero?

If the Miyota 6S21 stopwatch is running, stop it with the upper pusher (A), then press the lower pusher (B) to reset it. If the central chronograph seconds hand still misses zero, section E of the official Miyota manual describes its separate electronic zero-alignment procedure. This procedure is specifically for the central chronograph seconds hand, not every hand on the watch. Read the manual before attempting adjustment. If the controls do not match, another hand is affected, or the problem persists, contact Watchdives for service advice. A hardware fault may need repair; calibration cannot fix every misalignment.

How large does the ML23 wear?

The case is listed at 40mm without the crown, with a 48mm lug-to-lug length and 12.7mm thickness. The bezel diameter is 38.5mm. For fit, compare the lug-to-lug and thickness as well as the nominal 40mm case diameter.

Crystal, strap and water resistance

The ML23 uses a domed sapphire crystal with internal clear AR coating and a 20mm leather strap that tapers to 18mm. Water resistance is listed at 100m / 10 ATM. The leather strap should be considered separately from the watch-head water-resistance rating when deciding how you will use the watch around water.
